Restaurant Feature: DNM Hot Pot

why I like it
James's second favorite food is hot pot and as a result, we've tried and have been disappointed by many a hot pot restaurant in the Bay. He always lamented that his favorite place closed during the pandemic... and then celebrated when I told him that I think they recently reopened!
DNM Hot Pot is an authentic Inner Mongolian restaurant (that's literally what DNM's Chinese characters spell out). Come here if you REALLY love lamb—that's the star of the show. Their house special broths come with meat and toppings inside, but we also enjoyed the wide variety of à la carte ingredients, housemade sauces (including Middle Eastern green sauce??), and cold dishes.
what to know
Sit down at a big table and order a hot pot! The House Special soups already have meat, veggies, and other ingredients inside.
Sauces are $2.50/person, but it's an open bar at the back and you can help yourself.
Lamb and ingredients are 👌🏼 good quality.
The restaurant is pretty casual, and there should be room for walk-ins. I think their biggest tables seat 8 (and there aren't too many of those), so call ahead if you're bringing lots of people.
They have grilled, veggie, noodle, and cold dish options as well.
Warnings:
Hot pot is pretty expensive (and this place is a bit pricey), especially if you're eating alone. I recommend you bring at least a party of 4 to make it worthwhile.
what to order
Everybody orders the same thing: the house special lamb spine hot pot. Not sure which item it is on the menu but if you ask them they will know—it's the one that all the reviews on Yelp/Google talk about. For cold dishes, we were blown away by the oatmeal noodles—these are a must-order!
